HOLY INNOCENTS DAY
December 28
Holy Innocents Day, also known as the Feast of the Holy Innocents, is observed on December 28th. This day commemorates the massacre of the innocent children ordered by King Herod in his attempt to kill the infant Jesus, as recounted in the Gospel of Matthew. These children are honored as martyrs, and the day serves as a reminder of the innocence and suffering of children in the face of violence and injustice.
The celebration includes special prayers, hymns, and sometimes a Mass. It is also a day to reflect on the protection and care of children in the present day.
